"I will open rivers in high places..." Isaiah 41:18a
In the book, "Hind's Feet in High Places", a scene is described of a river that is flowing downward from the high places. The water in the river encounters many boulders and stones in the river bed as it flows down. The stones don't stop the flow of water, it finds a way around them and keeps flowing. Of course, this story is an allegory of the Christian life. Our lives are like the water that is flowing. Sometimes life flows smoothly with no problems, no interruptions, no hindrances. At other times, obstacles get in our way trying to hinder us or stop us in our journey.
When you encounter the boulders and stones of life, what do you do? Do you let them cause you to come to a halt? Does it make you want to give up? Does it make you want to retreat? Do you get discouraged or depressed? If indeed the water represents our lives, then we need to follow it's example. It keeps flowing and doesn't let anything stop it. If it can't keep going in a straight path, it finds a way around the obstacle-- it doesn't conform.
If you will look for it, there is always a way around these obstacles- trials, problems, circumstances. The Lord said that He would guide us, make a way were there seems to be no way, rightly divide our paths, let us hear a word that tells us this is the way. Don't let the obstacles stop you. Find God's path around it. Persevere and don't quit. There is a way around it. That way can come in the form of praise, wisdom, or holding fast to God's word- but the Lord will make a way nevertheless.
Have a great day. Don't let the obstacles of life stop you--- go around them.
